Start® Programs are for Companies who want to identify, develop and launch a "new-to-the-company" business. The "new-to-the-company" business must utilize the company’s assets, skill sets, competencies, information and knowledge blocks but must not conflict with any of the company’s existing businesses. Logical extensions of existing businesses are excluded from a Start Program. A Start Program does everything that is required to develop a knowledge-based business blueprint for a "new-to-the-company" business that has the company’s full commitment. Start Programs also operate under the philosophy that an "intelligent no" is unacceptable.

Approach: The KVC team works with the company to form a team of multi-disciplined experienced professionals, who volunteer to serve on the company’s Start team. The KVC team partners with the Company’s Start team to achieve the goals and objectives of the Start Program. Background Review, TMP Value, Economic Value, Influence and Market Value modules are used to develop strategies and tactical action plans.

Typically, new products and marketing approaches are developed as a result of the Start Program. The business blueprint that the Start team develops must be primarily based on the company’s assets, skill sets, competencies, information and knowledge blocks. Acquisitions can only be used for missing pieces of the new-to-the-company business and/or to gain a marketing foothold.

Benefits: The Start team achieves all of the benefits of the Background Review, TMP Value, Economic Value, Influence and Market Value modules. The Company achieves an actionable business blueprint. Typically the new-to-the-company business is launched about one year after the Start team is formed.

Prerequisites and Deliverables: The Start team and all other participants will receive customized workbooks and a CD that contains files that are conveniently adaptable to other businesses. A laptop computer with a CD ROM drive and Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel and Power Point) are prerequisites. Participants do not have to be expert in Word, Excel or Power Point software but rudimentary computer proficiency and knowledge of the basic function of this software is desirable. The KVC team will partner with the Start team to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Start Program. The KVC team will conduct all experiential modeling sessions and publish minutes and newsletters as required. The KVC team will also prepare a final Power Point presentation.
